About the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR)
The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) was established under the National Railway Safety Regulator Act (Act No. 16 of 2002) with the primary goal of overseeing and promoting safe railway operations in South Africa. What the RSR Bursary Covers
The RSR bursary is comprehensive and designed to alleviate the financial burden of tertiary education. It covers the following expenses:
1. Tuition Fees: Full payment of tuition fees for the duration of the approved programme of study.
2. Prescribed Textbooks and Study Materials: Costs associated with purchasing required academic resources.
3. Accommodation: Fully funded on-campus or accredited off-campus housing for students who reside far from their institution.
4. Monthly Allowance: Stipend to cover meals, transportation, and other essential living expenses.
The bursary is renewable annually, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the RSR Bursaries 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be South African citizens aged 15 to 35.
- They should not be receiving funding or financial support from any other bursary or sponsorship programme.
- Applicants must be available for interviews when required and willing to sign a Bursary Agreement.
- Proof of registration or admission must be submitted.
- Candidates must qualify to pursue the specified programme at the relevant higher education institution.
- First-year applicants must provide Grade 11 results or Grade 12 mid-year results with a minimum average of 65%.
- Returning students must submit their current academic records, showing a minimum average of 65% for their most recent studies.

Documents Required

Important Information
