IMESA Bursaries 2025
About the Bursary Provider
The Institute of Municipal
Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) was started in 1961 and has grown into
an important organization in the engineering field. IMESA helps develop and
promote municipal engineering in Southern Africa. They work to improve the
skills and knowledge of engineers who work in cities and towns, making sure
they are ready to handle the unique challenges of urban development and
infrastructure.
IMESA offers bursaries to
students studying fields related to municipal engineering. These bursaries help
support students who show promise and commitment to the municipal engineering
sector. By providing these bursaries, IMESA aims to support future
professionals who will help improve and manage municipal engineering and
infrastructure in Southern Africa.
IMESA offers two types of bursaries:
1. Bursaries for Non-IMESA
Members (Bursary Scheme A): These bursaries are available for students pursuing
a Civil Engineering qualification or a related discipline of infrastructure
engineering approved by the IMESA Executive Council.
2. Bursaries for Dependents of
IMESA Members (Bursary Scheme B): These bursaries are intended for the children
of IMESA members who are studying towards a Civil Engineering qualification or
a related discipline of infrastructure engineering.
Expenses Covered
IMESA will cover the student's
tuition fees and the cost of books, providing financial support up to a maximum
amount of R50,000.00. This assistance ensures that students can concentrate on
their studies without the burden of these essential educational expenses. The
bursary amount will be disbursed within 60 days of receiving a statement from
the tertiary institution or as otherwise agreed upon between the student and
the authorized IMESA representative, as delegated by the Executive Committee.
First Instalment Requirements
The first instalment of the
bursary will be disbursed to the student only after they have submitted the
following documents to the IMESA Head Office:
- An acceptable medical
certificate: This certificate verifies the student's health status and ensures
they are fit to pursue their studies without health-related obstacles.
- Proof of enrolment in the
specified course: This proof confirms that the student is officially enrolled
in the course they have specified in their bursary application. It ensures that
the bursary funds are allocated to support their ongoing academic pursuit.
Submitting these documents in a
timely manner is essential to receiving the first instalment of the IMESA
bursary, facilitating smoother financial support throughout the academic year.
