About the MISA Young Graduate Programme
The Young Graduates Programme is
a two-to-three-year initiative designed to facilitate professional registration
for participants as Technicians, Technologists, and Engineers. This is done in
accordance with the frameworks of approved regulatory and professional bodies,
including:
- Act 36 of 2002
- Engineering Professions Act No.
46 of 2000
- South African Council for
Planners (SACPLAN), the statutory council responsible for regulating the
planning profession under the Planning Profession Act, 36 of 2002 (PPA) and
other relevant legislation
The MISA Young Graduate Programme
is designed to attract young professionals with potential and ambition. It
offers hands-on experience in municipal infrastructure projects, underpinned by
a structured development programme. Graduates will work closely with seasoned

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the MISA Young
Graduate Programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- University and University of
Technology Graduates meeting the minimum academic requirements in the following
disciplines:
- Civil Engineering: BTech Degree / BSc / BEng in Civil Engineering
- Town & Regional Planning: BTech Degree / BSc in Town &
Regional Planning
- Electrical Engineering: BTech Degree / BSc / BEng in Electrical
Engineering
- Environmental Management: BTech Degree / B Environmental Management
- Project Construction Management: BTech Degree / BSc Construction
Management
- Applicants must be unemployed
graduates willing and available for a minimum of 24 months’ post-graduation
workplace experience deployment within the nine provinces.
- Applicants must be South
African citizens.
NB Applicants must be prepared
and able to participate in mandatory structured training, deployment, and
rotations across district municipalities and private sector consultancies, with
the aim of achieving professional registration. It should be noted that
participation in the programme does not guarantee employment with MISA upon completion
of the internship.
