PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is a global professional services firm renowned for its expertise in assurance, tax, and advisory services. Established through a series of mergers, PwC traces its roots back to the mid-19th century. The firm's origins can be traced to Samuel Lowell Price, who founded an accountancy practice in London in 1849. In 1865, Price partnered with Edwin Waterhouse to form Price, Waterhouse & Co., which would later become one of the "Big Four" accounting firms. Meanwhile, in 1854, William Cooper founded an accountancy firm in London, which eventually merged with Lybrand, Ross Bros & Montgomery in 1957 to form Coopers & Lybrand. The eventual merger of Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand in 1998 created PricewaterhouseCoopers as it is known today.
