The University of Mpumalanga (UMP), a comprehensive institution, was officially established on October 31, 2013. The university's day-to-day operations were initially overseen by an Interim Council and a Strategic Management Team. Faculties and Schools

UMP offers a diverse range of programs across three main faculties:

Entry Requirements

School of Agricultural Sciences

·         Diploma in Agriculture in Plant Production: NSC with APS of 23 (Math) or 24 (Math Lit). Level 4 in English, Math Lit or Level 3 in Math, and Life Sciences/Agriculture.

·         Diploma in Animal Production: NSC with APS of 24 (Math) or 27 (Math Lit). Level 4 in English, Level 3 in Math or Level 6 in Math Lit, Level 3 in Physical Science, and Level 4 in Life Sciences/Agriculture.

·         Bachelor of Agriculture in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management: NSC with APS of 26 (Math) or 28 (Math Lit). Level 4 in English, Agricultural Science/Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Math or Level 6 in Math Lit.

·         Bachelor of Science in Forestry: NSC with APS of 30. Level 4 in English, Mathematics, Physical Science, and two subjects from Life Science, Agricultural Science, or Geography.

School of Biology and Environmental Sciences

·         Diploma in Nature Conservation: NSC with APS of 30. Level 4 in English, Life Sciences, and Geography (recommended subjects).

·         Bachelor of Science: NSC with APS of 30. Level 4 in two of Life Science, Physical Science, or Geography.

·         Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science: NSC with APS of 30. Level 4 in two of Life Science, Physical Science, or Geography.

School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences

·         Higher Certificate in Information Communication Technology in User Support: NSC with APS of 20 (Math) or 22 (Math Lit). Level 4 in English.

·         Diploma in ICT in Applications Development: NSC with APS of 24. Level 4 in English Home Language and Mathematics.

School of Early Childhood Education

·         Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching: NSC with APS of 26 (Math) or 27 (Math Lit).

School of Development Studies

·         Bachelor of Commerce: NSC with APS of 30. Level 4 in Math and English.

·         Bachelor of Development Studies: NSC with APS of 32. Level 4 in English, Geography/History, and another Social or Commercial Sciences subject.

·         Bachelor of Administration: NSC with APS of 32. Level 4 in English Home Language and an additional language.

School of Hospitality and Tourism Management

·         Diploma in Hospitality Management: NSC with APS of 24 (Math) or 25 (Math Lit). Diploma endorsement and meeting minimum English and Math requirements.

·         Higher Certificate in Event Management: NSC with APS of 19 (Math) or 21 (Math Lit). Level 4 in English and three other recommended subjects: Business Studies, Hospitality Studies, and Tourism Discipline.

School of Social Sciences

·         Bachelor of Arts General: NSC with APS of 28. Level 4 in English, Level 2 in Math, and Level 3 in Math Lit.

·         Bachelor of Social Work: NSC with APS of 32. Level 4 in English, Level 2 in Math, and Level 3 in Math Lit.
